The DataVet Veterinary Management
Program
The DataVet system is easily the most feature rich
and user friendly system on the market. First marketed in 1988, it
was developed, and is maintained, with the end user in mind. Some
of it's qualities include:
● Routine tasks, such as invoicing, can be accomplished with fewer
keystrokes than any competitive system.
● Most routine tasks can be accomplished either by keyboard or by mouse.
● Screen buttons do not display mysterious little icons, but are labeled
with real words, and also their keyboard shortcut.
● Medical records are more complete and better organized than other
systems and can contain and display images, x-rays, ultrasound images,
and images of scanned documents.
● The DataVet system is the most report rich system on the market.
● Higher level options do not have to be purchased. The system
contains appointment calendar (including separate grooming, technician,
and other user defined calendars), a boarding map tailored to your cages
and runs, a time clock, an inventory management package including
automatic purchase order generator and automatic purchase order
receiver, and many more features.
● Technical support is only a phone call away, including after hours or on
weekends, with some exceptions.

DataVet Systems Hardware
If the hardware for the system is purchased from
DataVet Systems (optional), the typical multi-user system would include:
● For systems which have more than ten workstations
we use the Windows Storage Server operating system This is a
very stable system. An advantage of
this arrangement is that it is not necessary to use the standard Windows Server
operating system which for installations with more than ten stations can save up to several thousand dollars.
● Thin client units for most of the work
stations. These units occupy about a eight inch by eight inch
footprint and are only about three inches high. They are ideal for
tight work spaces such as exam rooms where the largest hardware will be
the flat panel monitor and the keyboard. They also require less
maintenance than do computers, and have the same capability when
utilized as work stations. These units can also lower the price of
a multi-user system substantially.
● Our multi-user systems also include an alternate server which is
used as a workstation under normal circumstances, but which can
temporarily be used as a data server if problems occur with the primary
server. This helps to insure that the chance for the complete
system to be down is very low.
