This screen, opened from the CLIENT/PATIENT screen, is generally used as
a first step in servicing a patient. Features available in this
screen include the following:
●
Although most patients which are logged in are in-patients, the OUT
PATIENT check box allows a patient to be designated as an out-patient.
This is generally done when a client is purchasing products for a
specific patient. This designation results in a specific color
code in the HOSPITAL LOG where all in-patients and out-patients are
listed and from which patients can be selected to open an invoice for
service.
● The DATE LOGGED IN edit box defaults to the current date but can
be used to define a different date. This is used most often for
large animal practices.
● When focus moves to the APPT TYPE edit box, a pick list of
appointment types is opened from which the operator can select one.
This list is editable and is defined by the clinic.
● The SUBJECTIVE edit box allows entry of subjective information,
generally from the client to the receptionist concerning the reason the
patient is in for service. This information can be entered or
edited from other screens.
● The PLAN edit box is normally used for patients to be
hospitalized, and are generally used from the INVOICE screen rather than
from the LOGIN screen, but is available here if needed.
● AUTOTEXT is available
for both the previous options. This is a clinic defined and
maintained option which contains unlimited packets of text which may
transferred directly into various edit boxes where information would
otherwise have to be entered by typing.
● The bottom grid, empty in this example, displays the reminder
status of the patient being logged.
After the above features are used as appropriate, the SAVE button
completes the login and one of the various buttons in the cluster on the
right can be used. These buttons function as follows:
● The CLOSE button returns to the selected patient in the
CLIENT/PATIENT screen.
● The WORK SHEET button prints a sheet with client and patient
information and a check list of services/products for the species being
serviced. This option is only used if the clinic does not have
work stations in the exam rooms. It is generally given to a
technician to enter the services and products invoiced and related
information after service is complete.
● The PROFILE SHEET button prints a sheet with additional patient
information. It is not generally required.
● The MEDICAL RECORDS button
opens a screen displaying the patient's medical records.
● The
HOSPITAL LOG button opens a screen displaying all current in-patients
and out-patients. This is the screen from which the doctor or
technician usually selects the patient to be serviced when the exam room
is entered. The hospital log can be opened from several other
screens.
● The TO
INVOICE button goes directly to the INVOICE SCREEN to start building an
invoice as a patient is serviced or afterward.
● The FILE LABEL button prints a label with
the appropriate patient information to be useful for labeling a file
folder, etc.
● The CAGE LABEL button prints a label suitable for adhering to a
card for use as a cage card if the
patient is being hospitalized.
● The PRINT FORM button opens a list of forms designed and
maintained by the clinic where a form can be selected and printed.
Examples of the forms might be SURGICAL RELEASE, EUTHANASIA RELEASE,
HEALTH CERTIFICATE, etc. The forms can be designed with "merge"
fields for the patient's name, date of birth, rabies vaccination due
date, etc. Client information can also be merged. This means
that when the form is printed it is complete with specific information
making it for the selected client and patient.
●
The VITALS button opens the VITALS WINDOW for entry of the patient's vital information into the medical
records and patient's weight history.
● The VIEW DAYS REVENUE button opens a window displaying revenue
related information for the current date or for any date past.
●
The X-RAY
LOG button opens a screen displaying all x-rays on file for the selected
patient.
●
The CHALK BOARD button
opens a screen which replaces the chalk board used by many clinics to
manage tasks assigned to employees. The advantage in using the
computer for this activity is the ease of updating the status of the
assignments and also due to the fact that that they can be viewed and
updated from any work station instead of going to a physical chalk
board.
● The VIEW CLIENT button opens a window displaying the information
on file for the selected client.
